BBS Rolodex Instructions
------------------------
This is perhaps one of the most comprehensive online BBS list programs
available for the Mebbsnet BBS system. Here is a breakdown of the commands
available and how to use them.
Main Menu
---------
The Main Menu consists of READ CARDS (VERBOSE/MINI), SEARCH BBS ROLODEX,
CREATE A ROLODEX CARD, DOWNLOAD LIST(MINI OR VERBOSE), and QUIT TO BBS.
Quit to BBS is pretty self-explanatory. You will simply exit out of this
program. First we will talk about the DOWNLOAD LIST since that is one of the
first things you might do.
~vc
Download List (Verbose or Mini)
-------------------------------
This option will allow you the choices of downloading the entire list that
is in the BBS ROLODEX either in the VERBOSE or the MINI form. The verbose
form will list ALL information known about each BBS while the mini-list will
only list the BBSNAME, up to 6 phone #'s this BBS might have along with the
minimum baud rate and maximum baud rate required to log on each line, and a 2
line comment about the BBS. The verbose list will have a LOT more information
and is the recommended method to use if you really want to know what the BBS
can offer you although it will take a little longer to download this file.
After you choose what form you want the list to be in, you will be given
the option of a compression method to use. This program offers you LHA, ZIP
and NONE for compression methods(if your sysop has it so configured).
~vc
In order to use LHA or ZIP you must have those utilities available on your
computer to decompress the file once you receive it. The default is NO
COMPRESSION, so if you do not have these utilities or do not know how to use
them, use the NONE option and the list will be sent to you as a normal TEXT
file which you can read with any TEXT file viewer/editor program.
Once you are done choosing all these options, the file will be created for
you and you then download it right then and there. After the download, you
are returned to the menu.
Read Cards (Verbose/Mini)
------------------------
In this area you will be given the options of doing either a VERBOSE read
or a MINI read. The verbose as stated above will be all information known
about the BBS.
~vc
While this can take some time to go through the entire rolodex, it will
give you information about the BBS that alot of other listers do not provide.
The MINI-LIST method is alot faster since it can display alot more BBS #'s
on the screen at a time but does not have near as much information about the
BBS as the verbose list does. Once in the mini-list read option you will have
the option of doing a Continuous read or a Pause read. The Pause read will
pause the display while you are reading so it will not scroll off your screen.
The Continuous will display the entire mini-list on the screen without
stopping. The continuous method was designed for people that have CAPTURE
buffers and therefore can capture the entire list this way without having to
download the list.

Search BBS Rolodex
------------------
There are 2 areas that offer this option. One is at the main menu and the
other is at the Read Cards Menu. They both have the same options, they just
were included in both areas for convenience. In this area you can do a
search for matches of a specific area code, BBS's that offer Fidonet, Maxnet,
Online Games, File Areas and even use any text string you wish to search ALL
fields of the listing for a match. This is helpful if you are perhaps
looking for all AMIGA related BBS's. You can simply do a search for AMIGA
and it will find any matches and allow you the option to read these matches.
Create a Card
-------------
This of course will allow you to make an entry in the ROLODEX. The
instructions are pretty easy to follow as you go through the process.
Before using this option, it is a good idea to have as much information about
the BBS as you can since it will ask MANY questions concerning what the BBS
offers.
~vc
Editing and Deleting Cards
--------------------------
This program allows you the option to come back at a later date and update
or delete the card you entered. If for some reason the information about the
BBS has changed, you will be able to change or simply delete the card. ONLY
the person that entered the card and the SYSOP have the options to do this.
To make these options available you have to find you card doing a verbose
read. Once your card appears, the options to edit or delete will appear to
you.
If you need help with any featured of this program ask the SYSOP and he
will be more than happy to assist you.
